Postcard Series: Arakan Valley, Philippines

Philippines is a country with thousands of islands (like literally thousands!). Every island or region in the country has something unique to offer; may it be culture, place or food.

I’m a proud Mindanaoan. Mindanao is one of the 3 main island groups of the country, and I think it is less touristy compared to Luzon and Visayas. But it doesn’t mean it has less things to offer. In fact, the region is rich in natural resources. If you like bonding with mother nature, there are so many good places to explore.

There was a point in my life when I’ve traveled and explored hills, mountains, waterfalls and forests. I was on my quarter-life crisis at that time trying to find my purpose in life (cheret!), and those travels with friends were one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Arakan Valley is located in Cotabato. It has so many mountains, and a popular waterfalls they refer as Bani. If you want to explore this place, I’d advise to go with people who have been here or familiar with the place as it wasn’t easy to find. I know a few mountain guides or travel groups that offer reasonable rates. Just drop me a message if you are interested.

Below are few photos I took a few years ago.

P.S. This is more of a camping place so please don’t expect any luxury.

Please avoid drinking/sipping alcohol whilst hiking, not a very good idea!
