Random Thoughts: Saving and Setting Goals

Recently, I was reading
Pinas for Good blog again. I was already a fan a long time ago when I started my financial independence while still working in Pinas. And baaaaam! I’ve had this random thought — what’s the long-term plan? I always wanted to have an early retirement so I can enjoy life more with my husband. I don’t want to work all my life, I wanted to save as much as I can so I can finally reach the point when I can say ‘I don’t need to work because I’ve saved enough’.

I’ve heard a lot of stories about Pinoys working abroad and never bothered to save. They’re working so hard and not thought of saving and investing their hard-earned money. In the end, they struggle. I don’t want to end up like them. So as early as now, I started saving and investing.

I recently opened a COL online. It’s a stock market broker in the Philippines where you can buy stocks through their platform. To be honest, I always wanted to join the stock market when I was a teenager, I just didn’t have the chance. Anyways, I’ve been religiously setting aside some money to buy stocks.

WARNING: Investing in the stock market is a risky decision. I lost some money (a few hundreds in pesos palang naman). But I’ve been learning as I go through it. I’m currently holding blue chip companies and plan to keep on adding more shares. I might make a separate post for this.

Apart from my COL account, I also have my mutual funds through SunLife. I opened this way back in 2013 (I think). Yung Christmas bonus ko, ininvest ko dito. I plan to buy more shares and keep my account going.

Hopefully, things work out in the end. There is no guarantee in life, but atleast with our small actions, we can start building our future.
