My Everyday Makeup Essentials

Makeup is an everyday essential to most women, regardless of age. It boosts confidence and self-esteem.

When I first came here, I brought my own kit with me. But the more I explore the different brands available in the UK, the more I discovered there are lots that are definitely good value for money! So, here is a list of what I consider basic ‘makeup essentials’ which I can use anytime (just out or work).

1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Water Fresh

There are 2 Double Wear foundations, the double wear stay in place which has a medium-full coverage and the double wear water fresh which is light-medium coverage. I like the latter because I don’t really need a full coverage unless I’m going to an event. For an everyday makeup, a lightweight foundation is recommended.

From all the foundations I’ve tried, this is the best! And the good thing is, it has an SPF 30.

2. NARS Radiance Primer
One of the common mistakes of most people is not using a primer. A primer helps protect the skin. It serves as a barrier between the skin and foundation. It also helps hold the makeup intact.

I’ve tried Benefit, L’oreal and Nude by Nature but none of them is as amazing as this Nars primer. The first 2 primers mentioned are good for summer and fall as they are matte. But for winter, I find this Nars as the best option as it’s not mattefying.

3. Revlon Colorstay Eyebrow Pen
I’m a big fan of Revlon products! It’s one of the best drugstore brands. I’ve already been using this Colorstay eyebrow pen for years now and I don’t have any plans to switch to a different brand.

4. Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara
This is the first Dior product I’ve bought. I stumbled on this when I was researching what is the best mascara and a lot of people have recommended this brand. I’m not disappointed! I’ve tried Revlon and Benefit mascaras but this is my favorite. It curls and lengthens the every strand of my eyelashes.

5. Revlon Lipstick and Human Nature Lip Balm
As I’ve mentioned above, I love Revlon products and they have a really good lipstick line. It’s moisturizing and heavily pigmented. It’s best for casual and work days, or even night outs.

Human Nature is a Philippine brand which I highly recommend. Apart from the Sunflower body oil which is a bestseller, I love their lip balm. It’s tinted and suitable for every casual days out. I’ve been using this flame tree lip balm, the one I brought with me, for a year now.
