After exploring Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and having our lunch in a nearby restaurant, we proceeded to our next destination, the Sri Mariamman Temple. We just walked because the distance between the 2 temples is just 160 meters, see image below.
The admission in the temple is free. However, I paid S$3 for the camera fee. Since I’ve already brought my camera with me, I just paid and took as many photos as I can. If you have a video camera, the fee is S$6.
Before you enter the temple, you have to remove your shoes. Outside, there is a shoe rack where you store your footwear.
My Experience
This temple looks “simple” compared to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. However, the designs are quite interesting. As you see on the photos below, even the ceiling was painted with different images of Hindu gods.
In the temple, only a few tourists were there and I think that gave the “solemn” atmosphere. I observed some parts of the temple aren’t available for tourists. So, I just satisfied myself with the statutes and drawings on the ceiling and walls. We were in the temple for 10-15 minutes.
If you love temples, you might want to include Sri Mariamman Temple on your list.
