Pinay in the UK: A Simple Way to Reduce Waste

I want to get better in reducing waste. Apart from taking plastic/linen bags with me when shopping, I also wanted to look on other ways to reuse things. I wanted to help the environment by producing less waste in small ways I know. There is always something, regardless how small, we can do to help the environment.

I regularly wear makeup when going out. So when I saw a reusable makeup pad, I didn’t hesitate to buy it. I got mine from Amazon, you can click this link if you’d like to check it out.

The pads are thick and firm enough, and a lot better than cotton pads. The set I’ve got has three colours which are black (6 pieces), gray (6 pieces) and white (6 pieces). For makeup, I use the black and gray pads. If you use the white pads for dark makeups, it may leave stains which can be difficult to remove. For skincare like toner, I use white pads.

The set usually lasts me for more than a week. To clean it, I just put them in the wash and they’re good as new. The instruction states not to put in the dryer, so I just hang them and let it dry.

I’ve been using reusable makeup pads since October, and I can attest that the fabrics are really durable. Imagine, how much money I save from not regularly buying cotton pads. I’m saving money and at the same time reducing waste.
