Pinay in the UK: Life Lately…

Time flies. We’re now in October and not far off November! The weather is getting colder and darker day by day. The next thing we know, we’re fast approaching Christmas day. I can’t believe we only have 2 months left this year!

It’s been a really busy last few months. Writing and keeping this blog up and running can be challenging. But lately, I’ve had a reality check to maintain a more balanced lifestyle. Sometimes, I forget the things and people that matter more to me. At the end of the day, we only have one body, and this life is meant to be enjoyed.

Here are a few things I’d like to share:

Goodreads Reading Challenge

Every year, I join the annual Goodreads challenge. This helps me motivate to read more books and keep a ‘healthy’ hobby. I managed to surpass my goal for this year which is great, and I still have a few more months left to add more books to the list.

Goldsboro vs Fairyloot

I’m a subscriber of both platforms. This topic needs a separate book review but I’d like to mention I like the books from Fairyloot more than Goldsboro.

I recently received my copy of Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones from Fairyloot, and I love it! It has lovely sprayed edges too. I pre-ordered this book back in February and was only delivered in September. That is definitely some kind of patience, but definitely worth the wait!

Another book currently on pre-order on Fairyloot is Kiki’s Delivery Service by Eiko Kadono, another Studio Ghibli film. The book is meant to be shipped in May/June 2025. I’ve already ordered my copy of the book, so it’s another waiting game!

Halloween

A couple more weeks and it will be Halloween. I will start putting up the window decorations which I’ve done for a good few of years now. Then once Halloween is over, I replace them with Christmas window stickers. I enjoy doing decorations, especially to let kids and parents know our home is open for trick-or-treaters.

Season of Teas!

With the weather getting colder, having a lovely warm cuppa is something I enjoy. One of the best teas I’ve recently discovered is Yorkshire Tea Malty Biscuit (see image of this post). Before this, TWG’s 1837 Black Tea is the best but I think there is a new competitor on my list. If you want a more biscuity taste and smell for a cheap price, try this!
